Let Support Happen Earlier
Since GCC has set up an individual grant allowance for Voting Committee members, what are the key areas each member is focusing on? As an applicant, how can I tell which Voting Committee member I should speak with?
At GCC, we have always believed that many truly important public goods do not appear only after a “fully completed proposal” is submitted.
They often emerge earlier, through a person’s long-term practice: - A developer who keeps maintaining their work - A research direction that is still being refined - An action that has not yet scaled, but already creates real value for the community
For this reason, GCC’s support does not only happen after a project is submitted. It also happens through judgment, trust, and long-term observation.
Under the “Voting Committee Individual Grant Allowance” mechanism, some support will be given directly by Voting Committee members, based on their long-term observation and accumulated trust, to support the individuals, projects, and actions they believe deserve to be seen and supported in a timely way.
In this article, we hope to further introduce:
- What areas are GCC Voting Committee members currently paying attention to?
- What kinds of practices are they each looking for, evaluating, and accompanying?
- Under the individual grant allowance mechanism, how can projects connect with them?
Applicants can submit the allowance application form to enter the application pool. Application link 🔗: https://tally.so/r/2EN41V
We have also prepared both Chinese and English versions of the application method and process, so that everyone can check them as needed: GCC Voting Committee Individual Grant Allowance
If a Voting Committee member has already been in contact with the applicant, the member may also directly initiate the grant process.
If the practice you are working on happens to overlap with the focus of a certain Voting Committee member, you can also take the initiative to contact that member and start a conversation under the individual grant allowance mechanism.
You may not need to wait until everything is “fully complete” before starting a conversation.

Getting to Know You Is the First Step of Support
The Voting Committee Individual Grant Allowance is not a “fast-track funding channel.” It is also not a replacement for the formal grant process. It is more like an open but limited space for judgment. It allows Voting Committee members to support the practices they recognize, at the right time, based on experience, responsibility, and trust.
If you see a Voting Committee member above whose focus is close to the direction of your work, and if what you are doing is still in an exploratory, developing, or early-stage phase, you are welcome to take the initiative to reach out and introduce your background and practice.
There is no need for a grand narrative. Clear, real, and sustainable action is already worth being seen.
We also hope that in this way, support will not only happen after an application is submitted, but can happen earlier through understanding, communication, and walking together.
Welcome to GCC. Let public goods grow together 🌱
